In January–February 2007, a salvage excavation was conducted in Kokhav Ha-Zafon neighborhood in Ramla (Permit No. A-5000; map ref. 188430–99/648830–96; Torgë 2011), prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by S.A.L. Hatakh Enterprise and Investments Company, was directed by H. Torgë. The excavation unearthed floors, installations and walls dating to the Early Islamic period.
