The Et-Tur neighborhood is located on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives. The excavation was c. 500 m east of the Byzantine monastery that was excavated a year and a half ago (HA–ESI 112:75*–78*). Two excavation squares (A and B) were opened 15 m apart. An agricultural terrace (height 1.2 m) was uncovered in Sq A (4 × 5 m), which was located at the top of the slope. The terrace, oriented north–south, was built of different sized flint blocks set on bedrock. Five meters of the terrace, which was preserved two courses high, were exposed. Fragments of pottery vessels from the Byzantine period were recovered from between the terrace stones. A quarry (2.5 × 3.5 m, depth 1.75 m) was discovered in Sq B (4 × 4 m), which was opened at the foot of the slope. Based on the quarrying marks, the margins of the stone were first marked and then it was hewn out with an iron bar, detaching it from bedrock.
