In November 2013, a salvage excavation was conducted west of Horbat Pattish, in the industrial area of Ofaqim, c. 150 m south of Highway 241 (Permit No. A-6943; map ref. 163920/581418; Fig. 1), in the wake of damage caused to antiquities during the installation of a sewer line. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Mei Sheva Water Consortium, was directed by V. Lifshits (field photography), with the assistance of Y. Al-‘Amor (administration), M. Kunin (surveying), S. Gal (GPS), N. Zak (plan) and laborers from Umm Batin (Abu Kaf).
