In January–February 2005, a salvage excavation was conducted on Mordechai Ha-Yehudi Street in Ramla, along the planned route of an Israel Railways Authority railroad track (Permit No. A-4851; map ref. 18800–4/64885–900; Fig. 1). The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by H. Torgë. R. Kool identified the coins. The excavation yielded scant building remains, most probably dwellings and adjacent installations, from the Ealry Islamic period (the second half of the eighth century to the eleventh century CE).
