Numerous excavations previously conducted in Nein have exposed the following antiquities: habitation layers from the Intermediate Bronze Age, buildings that date to the Hellenistic and Early Roman periods, a hiding refuge from the Roman period, winepresses from the Byzantine period and architectural remains ascribed to the Early Islamic, Crusader, Mamluk and Ottoman periods (Abu Zidan 2014, and see references therein).
