In January–February 2011, a salvage excavation was conducted at ‘En Ya‘al (‘En Ya‘el) along the north bank of Na
h
al Refa’im (Permit No. A-6096; map ref. NIG 21665–700/62790–900), in the wake of damage to antiquities caused while improving the drainage in the streambed. The excavation, on behalf of the Antiquities Authority and funded by I. Barashi Co., was directed by R. Avner. T. Winter studied the glass finds, I.C. Freestone studied the chemical composition of a glass chunk and T.Z. Ariel studied the coins. The excavation revealed building remains and pottery-kiln debris dating from the time of the second temple to the fifth century CE. These can be associated with the nearby remains of a villa and a pottery kiln (
