In January 2004, a salvage excavation was conducted at Horbat Pezelet, in the northwest part of Fassuta (Permit No. A-4065; map ref. 229136/772948), following damage to antiquities caused by mechanical equipment during construction. The excavation, on the behalf of the Israel Antiquity Authority, was directed by the H. Bron and H. Smithline. The excavation yielded building remains from the EB IB, EB II and the Middle Bronze Age, burials from the MB I and pottery sherds from the Iron Age, as well as the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods.
L. Gershuny studied the Middle Bronze I pottery.
