In June 2006, a salvage excavation was conducted at Horbat Zefat ‘Adi (East) (Permit No. A-4822; map ref. 215854/747833), after an unauthorized earthmoving operation destroyed much of the site. The excavation, carried out on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by H. Smithline. Y. Gorin-Rosen studied the glass finds, and O. Marder studied the flint items. The finds date from the Early Chalcolithic, the Roman and the Late Byzantine periods.
